4/10/10 Varnishing and Granders go hand and hand!

We blocked off this week to refinish Kila Kila's toe rail. Fishermen's belief is the better you take care of your boat, the better it takes care of you! So we're giving Kila Kila lots of love at the moment, dreaming and hoping that she will produce our grander blue this year!

As we were hard at work, sweating in the hot sun, we hear rumor a fellow captain and crew are bringing in a big one to weigh. The Marlin Magic turns the corner into the harbor to greet a crowd gathering around the scale. Josh and I walked over to see the big catch. The fish got hoisted up to weigh Kona's first grander for 2010: a monster weighing in at 1104 lbs.!

Congratulations to the lucky wahine angler, Jill Anderson! Jill came to Kona for her honeymoon with husband, John Anderson, a friend of mine. They just flew in last night to fish a day, before they go back home to Florida. Capt. Jason Holtz and crewman Brian Tony aboard the Marlin Magic didn't waste anytime hooking the newlyweds that fish of a lifetime.

Awesome catch, nice work guys!

Check out the picture below of the lucky team!

Aloha, Capt. Teddy Hoogs
