Gary seems to bring us luck whenever he comes, this year was no different. First day we caught a tuna in the blind, a rare occurrence for March. Most tuna this time of the year travel in porpoise schools. Our blind Ahi weighed 91#s. We marked a few more after setting the lines back out but couldn't get any more to bite. Still a great catch for this time of the year.
Second day we traveled way offshore searching for any debris floating out wide. Got lucky and found a net and caught 8 mahi mahi ranging between 12- 18 pounds. Good action, keeping us occupied for a couple hours.
Day three, long day, can't say we didn't try!
Day four, took us out to the tsunami buoy, 28 miles offshore. We left early and were the first boat to arrive in the morning. We got 8 Mahi Mahi within the first hour, then the bite shut off. Great action on light tackle, one of the fish was a whopping, 35 pound Mahi Mahi!
Aloha, Capt. Teddy Hoogs
